Apple Football Cupcakes

Fresh, Fruity and Ready for Kick Off. Match Day Cupcakes for Football Fans

These apple flavoured football cupcakes are a winning bake for World Cup watch parties and team celebrations. ⚽🧁 Each soft vanilla cupcake is topped with vibrant green buttercream, flavoured with Apple Natural Flavouring and piped through a grass nozzle to create a miniature pitch. Finish them with iced footballs, boots and your favourite decorations, then serve to friends and family before the action begins.

You can even swap the apple for different flavours, colours and toppings to match your team and create a personalised match day lineup.

Ingredients

Cupcakes

  • 200g Caster Sugar
  • 170g Unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 Large Eggs, at room temperature
  • 3 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Tsp Gorilla Vanilla Extract
  • 200g Self Raising Flour, sifted
  • 100ml Whole Milk

Servings 12 / Prep time 40 mins / Cook time 20 mins

Cupcakes

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan and line a cupcake/muffin tray with 12 cases.
  2. Cream together the sugar and butter in a bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing in between each.
  4. Mix in the oil and vanilla extract.
  5. Fold in the flour and the milk.
  6. Fill each case approximately 2/3 full and bake in the oven for 18-20 minutes.
  7. Leave the cupcakes in the tray for 5 minutes, then remove and cool on a wire rack.

Buttercream

  1. With a handheld or stand mixer, beat the butter for 5 minutes until pale and spreadable.
  2. Add half the icing sugar and beat until combined. Repeat for the rest of the icing sugar adding the apple flavouring at the same time.
  3. Beat the buttercream for 5 minutes. If the buttercream is too stiff to pipe, add a little milk.
  4. Colour the buttercream green.
  5. Add the buttercream to a piping bag fitted with a #233 grass piping nozzle.
  6. Begin piping buttercream strands around the edge of the cupcakes, working your way into the centre.
  7. Place edible football decorations on top and enjoy!
